  13. If you purchase the 2-diskette Uedit package (Uedit-One and Uedit-Two) at
  14. your dealer, be sure to fill out and send in the user registration form.
  15.  
  16. If you are ordering Uedit by mail, print this page on your printer.  Circle or
  17. mark what you are paying for and send it in with your order.

  19. All payments must be in cash, check, or money order, in U.S. currency.  If
  20. outside the USA, include $3 extra for postage.

  22. NOTE:  ALL CHECKS and MONEY ORDERS must have BANK ROUTING NUMBERS at the

  31.     * the latest Uedit-One diskette, which can be freely distributed.
  32.     * the latest Uedit-Two diskette, which can be fully customized.
  33.     * Extras, configs and utilities to use with Uedit. (See Extras below.)
  34.     * full Uedit documentation on diskette.
  35.     * automatic notice of new upgrades.

  51. new commands, configs created by users, frequently asked questions,
  52. complaints and requested features, plans for future upgrades, bugs, and other
  53. topics.

  55. (BUG NOTE:  Uedit has the handy feature of letting you Ctrl-click-load any
  56. filename in any buffer.  However, early versions of the C Ltd. TimeSaver (tm)
  57. block out the Ctrl-mouse input.  To get Ctrl-mouse, hold down Ctrl, touch
  58. Shift or Alt, and then click the mousebutton.)

  69.                                Sharing Uedit
  70.  
  71. You can give people a copy of the Shareware Uedit.  When you give away copies,
  72. you must observe the following restrictions:  
  73.  
  74. ***  You must distribute ALL of Uedit's Shareware files together:
  75.         Cheat-Sheet         Config!         Data!             Help!
  76.         NoName.info            Uedit-Policy    Uedit-Tutor     UES
  77.         UES.info            Key-Help
  78.  
  79. ***  You must NOT MODIFY any files except for putting your serial number
  80.         into UES.
  81. ***  You must NOT distribute copies of UE or the printed or diskette Manual
  82.         or Uedit's command language documentation.
  83. ***  You MUST use Uedit COPYRIGHT notices on Uedit files.
  84. ***  You MUST use Uedit TRADEMARK notices on "Uedit".

  86. You may include your own files along with Uedit, put files on several
  87. diskettes, distribute files via modem, or compress files, as long as their
  88. contents remain unchanged.
  89.  
  90. You may print, copy, and distribute the Help!, Cheat-Sheet and other text
  91. files on your Uedit-One diskette.
  92.  
  93. Amiga clubs may want to encourage their members to register off the club's
  94. registered copy, as a good way to earn money for the club.
  95.  
  96. NOTE:  Do NOT tell people to register by subtracting your commission from the
  97. amount they send in.  This is Important:  If I allow people to subtract off
  98. the commission, users can be cheated out of commissions they are entitled to.
  99. You must give them a signed note to include when they register or contact me
  100. personally, so that I have got proof that you are waiving your commission.  
  101.  
  102. Please encourage others to try Uedit.  In distributing it and encouraging new
  103. registrations, you will be supporting good programming for Amiga Shareware.
  104.  
  105. And your feedback is important too.  Most of the improvements in Uedit since
  106. the beginning have been in response to feedback from its users.

  109.                             Revision Numbering
  110.  
  111. When a new revision comes out, the old revision number is incremented by 0.1.
  112. Thus, if the current revision is V2.3, the next true upgrade will be V2.4.
  113.  
  114. When bugs are found in a new release, the fixed version will have a letter of
  115. the alphabet after the revision number.  Thus, when V2.2 came out and bugs
  116. were fixed, the fixed version became V2.2a.  When more fixes were required,
  117. the new fixed version became V2.2b.  And so on.
  118.  
  119. If you own a version such as V2.3 and bugs are found in it and a version
  120. V2.3a is released, you can obtain V2.3a by sending in your V2.2a diskettes
  121. and $2 or postage (it's 56 cents right now) and an address sticker.

  132.                            Uedit and Shareware
  133.  
  134.  
  135. Shareware is a generous, trusting concept which treats you like an honest
  136. person, rather than presuming that you are not, as, for instance, copy
  137. protection does.
  138.  
  139. Shareware programs have got to be Superior, because you get to try them out
  140. thoroughly at home or in the office before buying them.  Many commercial
  141. programs would not survive this acid test.
  142.  
  143. You are allowed to try out a Shareware program for as long as you require, in
  144. order to decide whether you are going to use it or not.
  145.  
  146. When "trying out" becomes "using", you are obliged to buy the program. 
  147.  
  148. Only then does the Shareware author get paid for his work and expenses for
  149. creating and supporting the program you are using.
  150.  
  151. Uedit relies on:
  152.         * Your honesty.
  153.         * Your cooperation in safeguarding Uedit by not distributing its
  154.           files which are not for distribution.
  155.         * Your help in finding new customers.

  159.                   Uedit, Shareware, and Your Amiga Dealer
  160.

  162. Recently I decided to start distributing Uedit through Amiga dealers.
  163.  
  164. Good dealers have a lot in common with Shareware authors and small farmers. 
  165. They work hard, take their lumps, run the risk of not making it, try to treat
  166. everybody right, and hope to make a living.
  167.  
  168. Uedit is still a Shareware program.  The most successful Shareware authors on
  169. the most popular microcomputers work through dealers.  (Go out and buy a PC
  170. and there's a good chance you'll buy a Shareware program to go with it.)
  171.  
  172. Going through dealers has great advantages for "serious" Shareware programs
  173. like Uedit.  Those advantages are:
  174.  
  175. Access to the full Amiga user base.  Personal contact with customers.  And the
  176. fact that dealers make their living selling products.
  177.  
  178. I can trust my dealer.  If he says a product is good, I believe him.  He
  179. wouldn't steer me wrong.  And dealers have to make a profit, in order to stay
  180. in business.  So don't begrudge your dealer's charging enough to make a dollar
  181. or two.  Frequently they cut it so close to give you a good deal, that they
  182. make almost nothing.

  184. Dealers can do a lot of good for Uedit.  I hope that you will help me by
  185. encouraging your local dealer to carry Uedit.
